Rittenhouse Road Closure Extended

ROADclosure

Rittenhouse Road is currently closed to widen the bridge over the Queen Creek Wash. The roadway was originally scheduled to open in mid-July, but the Town of Queen Creek has decided to extend the closure to August 21, 2020.  The distance of the closure will also be extended from Riggs Road to Creekside Drive.

According to a press release by the Town of Queen Creek, the extended road closure is accommodating an accelerated schedule by the Union Pacific Railroad for the spur crossing.  The project completion is anticipated to be before the Christmas holiday.

During the closure, the roadway in the closed area will be removed and reconstructed which includes mass grading, subgrade prep, pavement installation, curb, gutter, and sidewalk.

The Rittenhouse Road project involves widening the roadway to two lanes in each direction from 213th Street to Riggs Road, making Rittenhouse Road four lanes throughout Queen Creek. Additional elements of the project include right turn lanes at intersections, bike lanes, intersection upgrades – including realigning the Cloud Road intersection, utility upgrades and widening the spur crossing north of Riggs Road.
